The month of August was very exciting for the IonLoop team as we continue to be part of legendary Major golf tournaments. As in years past IonLoop had provided commemorative magnetic bracelets for all players, spouses, USGA staff, and invited guests at the US Open. This successful partnership with the USGA and Congressional Country Club has repeated itself during the 93rd PGA Championship in Atlanta.

From the American Psychological Association's website comes an article discussing negative Ion therapy as a way to help Seasonal Affective Disorder patients. According to the Mayo Clinic website, SAD or seasonal affective disorder “type of depression that occurs at the same time every year […] symptoms start in the fall and may continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody.”

The air around us is filled with these electrically charged particles. Both positive and negative ions occur naturally in the air and this ionization is indispensable to life. However, the effects that positive and negative ions have on us are very different.

Magnets are by definition “bodies having the property of attracting iron and producing a magnetic field external to themselves.” The atoms that form magnets contain unpaired electrons filling their orbits, causing them to attract materials that have the same characteristic. The unique features of magnets have led people across the ages to investigate them and find the best use for their powers.

Nature is all about balance and this balance translates into health for us. When it comes to the negative ion count on the air that we breathe, our environment makes a big difference. According to the "Air Cleaner Singapore" website, "while relatively clean air in open country contains between 1000 to 2000 negative ions/cm3, a typical air-conditioned office has about 150 negative ions/cm3 or lower."
