The number of Americans who struggle with anxiety is staggering. In fact, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, with an estimated 40 million adults (ages 18 and older) affected annually -- that translates to 18.1% of the population. If you are among this group, how do you treat your anxiety? Does your approach include an anti-anxiety accessory?
Read on for some personal and professional commentary, regarding the anti-anxiety bracelet trend to determine whether it’s an alternative you should consider.
What makes current statistics about anxiety disorders particularly discouraging is the fact that, although highly treatable, less than 37% of those with anxiety receive any kind of treatment. Whether lacking insurance coverage, fear of pharmaceutical prescriptions or an inability to see the way forward to a solution (anxiety can, after all, be debilitating), too many of those with anxiety continue to suffer.
But, there are other alternatives to addressing anxiety that are worth exploring. For instance, many people opt to wear bracelets for anxiety, and report results like reduced stress and decreased symptoms commonly associated with anxiety.
It sounds like a stretch, but many people are reporting increased feelings of calm and centering from wearing anti-anxiety bracelets. Some believe this is because anti-anxiety bracelets support stronger chakra alignment for increased balance and inner peace.
Although there have yet to be any clinical trials regarding the proven efficacy of anti-anxiety bracelets, a 2016 study by The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease showed that tapping on particular areas of the body -- as part of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) -- does have the potential to decrease symptoms of anxiety.
At IonLoop, we believe that our negative ion bracelets and magnet bracelets do support overall mental (and physical) well-being by supplying wearers with a consistent stream of magnetic therapy and nature’s negative ions, credited with combatting the harmful effects of positive ions emitted all around us.
