Let's face it… stress is an inevitable part of
our lives. Between working to pay bills, enjoying a social life, pursuing an
education or keeping up with professional development, there are a million
things that can contribute to everyday stress. Nevermind the news!
In fact, according to The
American Institute of Stress, 33% of people report feeling extreme
stress at some point in their lives.
But just because the odds of experiencing
stress are high, doesn't mean there is nothing we can do to alleviate its
ions can be a tool to help you manage stress
Negative ions are believed to produce biochemical
reactions within the body that increase the levels of the “mood
chemical” serotonin. Serotonin is known to help alleviate depression, relieve
stress, and boost your daytime energy. Negative ions can also increase the flow
of oxygen to your brain, which empowers increased alertness, decreased
drowsiness, and more mental energy overall.
The concept of negative ions to support stress
can be best illustrated by the way we feel when exposed to the elements of
ever wondered why you feel so good at the beach?
ever felt that rush of euphoria when exposed to the mountain air?
There's a reason for that!
The air surrounding mountains, beaches, and
waterfalls contains tens of thousands of negative ions.
Put simply? Negative ions equals positive
On the first Wednesday in November, we observed National Stress Awareness Day as a way to help identify and reduce the stress
factors that challenge our everyday life.
The day was named in 1998 by the International Stress Management Association to
provide information on stress and offer suggestions for individuals and
organizations to cope with stress in a healthy, productive way.
While stress impacts every person regardless
of our unique personal or professional situations, the main focus of National
Stress Awareness Day is to help reduce stress in the workplace.
There are so many ways to try and stay healthy in the workplace,
but it all starts with awareness … and maybe the right accessory.
